More than 25 years ago, The Boulevard’s founders witnessed hundreds of homeless men and women with medical illnesses and injuries coming into shelters across the city with nowhere to go to recover. In order to break the cycle of homelessness, these individuals needed a place to heal and the opportunity to move on to stable housing. Formerly known as Interfaith House, The Boulevard was founded in 1994 as the answer to this critical need. Today it is the only organization in Chicago, and one of few in the country, that provides a full range of respite care resources for holistic human healing.
The Boulevard seeks a passionate, motivated, mission-driven and focused leader with vision to support and build upon the accomplishments of The Boulevard and who aspires to lead the organization to the next level. The Boulevard seeks an individual who is deeply committed to providing homeless services and who is able to offer hope to individuals both within and beyond The Boulevard. This leader will bring strategy and vision to provide comprehensive, person-centered medical respite services and to contribute regionally and nationally to reduce and prevent homelessness.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of healthcare provision today as well as current government initiatives in homelessness, healthcare and social services, including familiarity with medical respite. Experience with social services and a familiarity with the Continuum of Care will be an advantage.
The person we seek must be an effective and compassionate manager who has excellent communication skills in both speaking and writing. This leader is a self starter with a minimum of 5 to 10 years in senior leadership of a mission-driven organization.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated skill in attracting donors and other critical partners to the mission. In addition, a track record of successfully engaging with an active and participative governing Board must be evident. The CEO will appreciate and acknowledge the work of The Boulevard’s dedicated staff, while advancing their skills and professional excellence.
A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required; a graduate degree or degrees is strongly preferred.
